Mold Design

The cylindrical steel mandrel is mounted horizontally on a winding machine. The star-shaped end plate provides radial support and a robust drive connection for rotating the heavy mandrel and wet composite. The star geometry balances rigidity with reduced weight.

Tank Production

Glass rovings are wound in successive hoop and helical layers onto the rotating mandrel. After cure, the mandrel is collapsed or extracted, leaving a large FRP tank. The star end plate is removed for mandrel extraction.

This type of mandrel produces large-diameter FRP storage tanks for chemical processing, water treatment, and industrial liquid storage. Tank diameters range from 3 m to 12 m, with lengths up to 20 m.
